Download and install SymbolicLinker, available here: (free). Once installed, move your Minecraft folder (located in ~/Library/Application Support/) to a folder in your Dropbox. Rightclick on this new folder and choose Make symbolic link. This will create a symbolic link in the same folder.

How to install: To install the Official Release, open up the Minecraft Launcher and enable snapshots in the “Launch Options” tab. Official Release can corrupt your world, please backup and/or run them in a different folder from your main worlds. With a slow software OpenGL renderer from fdossena I didn't have to touch LWJGL, it's likely you're having to downgrade it due to 1.17+ requiring OpenGL 3.2, but if you were able to get in-game without touching it on 1.18pre1 then I have no clue what's going on since they didn't change the requirements.

Go to your start button in the bottom left corner of your screen and select run (or type it into the search box). In the run box, type %appdata% and hit okay. Open the .minecraft folder, and access the bin folder inside of it. Rename the current minecraft.jar file to "minecraft1.8backup" or something similar, so you can always restore the file
