Are you having trouble uploading texture packs to your Windows XP computer? If so, this might help you!
Download and install SymbolicLinker, available here: (free). Once installed, move your Minecraft folder (located in ~/Library/Application Support/) to a folder in your Dropbox. Rightclick on this new folder and choose Make symbolic link. This will create a symbolic link in the same folder.

Go to your start button in the bottom left corner of your screen and select run (or type it into the search box). In the run box, type %appdata% and hit okay. Open the .minecraft folder, and access the bin folder inside of it. Rename the current minecraft.jar file to "minecraft1.8backup" or something similar, so you can always restore the file
