I have a 2004 Passat wagon 1.8T Automatic. I am doing a 5 speed manual transmission swap from a 2003 Passat Sedan 1.8T. or some insight on the B5 Passat coding on

No. IMHO, at 200,000 miles, if you're going to have the transmission out, it should be completely rebuilt. That means clutches, bands, seals, etc. Probably a new torque converter while you're at it. If you were doing the work yourself, to solve a problem, you might consider just repairing a problem in the valve body. Otherwise not. #2 Transmissions are all over the board. Mine went out at 100K but that was completely my fault. I wasn't using the parking brake and over time stressed the case enough to crack it. Once replaced I drove it for another 170K without any transmission problems. I forget how many miles Oilhammer has on his, I want to say 200K+ without a problem. Misfire causes include a bad ignition coil, ignition wire, or spark plug. Overall, these were the fourth most common problem reported by 138 VW Passat owners. Model years experiencing this problem included 1998 through 2000, 2002 through 2010, and 2013. On average, this problem happened at 88,873 miles. However, misfires occurred as early as
Vacuum hose leaks – B5. ABS control module failure. MAF sensor failure. 1. Ignition Coil Pack Failure. Premature ignition coil pack failure is common on all B5/B5.5 Passat engines. Coil packs transform the battery’s lower voltage into a high voltage needed by the spark plugs to initiate engine combustion.
No ATF leaks. The AT does not engage in any gear (including Tiptronic), rolls like in N. Here are the codes I got with VCDS: 17114 - Gear Ratio Monitoring. P0730 - 003 - Incorrect Gear Ratio. 17195 - Excessive Clutch Slippage. P0811 - 003 - - MIL ON. I have tried to rule out electrical issues: TCM and harness dry.
Manual transmission failure. Bought my 99 Passat (2.8, 5 speed) last year with about 75,000 miles on it. Had to replace a few things: axle (CV joint), rear brakes and rotors but overall it's been a good caar. Even took it on a 5,000 mile trip to visit the family during the holidays.
